This session will cover the required annual training requirements under the Clery Act.  The training will cover issues regarding sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking as defined under the Clery Act and under the Title IX regulations.  Additionally, the training will cover how to conduct an investigation and hearing process that protects the safety of victims and promotes accountability as required under the Clery Act regulations.

Skills Sessions for Investigators, Advisors, and Decision-Makers

The remainder of session will cover: understanding and applying investigative techniques and procedures; exploring cross-examination theory and practice; applying the Title IX regulations’ use of relevancy; reviewing the hearing process including making relevancy decisions and the roles of the investigators, decision-makers, and advisors in the investigative and hearing process; discussing the written decision and how to objectively evaluate evidence; and being impartial and avoiding bias/conflict of interest.  Investigators will complete a series of mock interviews and focus on report writing techniques.  Hearing advisors and decision-makers will conduct a mock hearing with cross examination.
