Webinar: Hazing Bootcamp for Higher Education

Webinar
 | 09:00 am to 12:00 pm

In response to multiple hazing-related deaths of college students in Ohio, the state has enacted a new anti-hazing act that is commonly referred to as “Collin’s Law.” This law, which took effect on October 7, 2021, requires that Ohio colleges and universities take steps to increase their enforcement, training and reporting efforts with respect to hazing. This renewed focus on hazing has led to increased reporting of hazing-related activity at many institutions.

Join Jessica Galanos, Joe Hall and Kasey Nielsen from Bricker’s higher education team for a workshop on how to effectively investigate and address reports of hazing on your campus. This half-day session will consist of current best practices and practical tips for addressing an initial report, obtaining information from students, conducting a thorough investigation, documenting investigative interviews and drafting investigative reports. The session will also include a discussion of Collin’s Law, and its potential effects on your campus’s student conduct office.
