Webinar

In 2014, the Ohio Supreme Court determined for the first time that a commissioned police department at a private university is a public office for purposes of public records laws. Since that decision, little guidance has been provided on how to comply with the decision while also functioning as a unit of a private institution not otherwise subject to such laws.

Warren Grody and Josh Nolan from Bricker & Eckler’s Colleges & Universities practice will host a webinar on October 6th to update private institutions of higher education on recent case law and help them to understand their public records obligations, navigate the many exceptions that allow the withholding of records, and prepare a suitable records retention policy.
