Weighing the Evidence in Sexual Violence Cases (Free Title IX In Focus Webinar Series)
Whether you are new to sexual misconduct work or you have been doing it for years, assessing the evidence in sexual violence cases is a hard job. This presentation is intended to provide practical tips for considering credibility, checking for bias, and assessing the relative strength of the evidence in front of you, while being mindful of how your questions may impact the person you are interviewing.
Series Description:
The Title IX In Focus Free Webinar Series focuses on issues related to sexual misconduct, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. This series is aimed at helping colleges and universities comply with annual training requirements under the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act (110 ILCS 155/1 et seq.) and the Clery Act (34 CFR § 668.46), in addition to ensuring ongoing discussions about practical strategies, legal updates, and trauma-informed practices. Each webinar will be presented by a member of Bricker Graydon’s Higher Education team, and may feature guest speakers from our network of university partners, key government agencies, and seasoned professionals in the field of sexual misconduct and relationship violence.
Although we had our Illinois friends in mind when developing this series, it is open to anyone employed by a college or university. Sessions will run from August 2025 through May 2026. If you would like to request specific content or are interested in serving as a guest speaker, please contact Jessica Galanos at jgalanos@brickergraydon.com. To register to additional sessions in this series, check out the Title IX In Focus Free Webinar Series page.
Attendance at these trainings is limited to employees of higher education institutions and other individuals who provide services to those institutions. Individuals who are unaffiliated with an institution will not be permitted to attend without prior approval.
This session is pending approval by the Minimum Continuing Legal Education Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois and the Commission on Continuing Legal Education for the Ohio Supreme Court for 1.0 total CLE hours of instruction.
