Affordable Health Care Act Changes on the Horizon

Firm News

Columbus, Ohio – In accordance with the Affordable Health Care Act, all 501(c)(3)-designated hospitals must complete a community health needs assessment effective March 23.

All not-for-profit hospitals must complete one of these assessments every three years. Failure to complete the assessment will result in a $50,000 fine each taxable year.

According to Modern Healthcare magazine, the community health needs assessments take into account a community’s health needs by priority, show how the community has been served and detail how the assessment was carried out. However, the assessment must also show how the community was incorporated and how needs will be addressed.

The Quality Management Consulting Group, an affiliate of Bricker & Eckler LLP, is prepared to assist your organization in meeting this regulation and showcasing how your hospital supports your community’s heath care needs.
