Summer associates join Bricker & Eckler

The Summer Associate program at Bricker & Eckler LLP is a long and valued tradition. Today, seven summer associates are welcomed to the firm’s program, bringing with them a diverse range of backgrounds, skills and interests. The 2014 class includes: Jose Bautista, Nicolaus Gordon, Michael Katz, Meagan Leach, Dominic Saintfort, Tal Schapira and Vanessa Bernstein Tussey.

Jose Bautista attends The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with an anticipated graduation date of May 2015. A 2010 graduate of the University of Chicago with a major in psychology, Jose has worked as a legal assistant for a Chicago law firm. Prior to law school, he held several positions with the John Crerar Library in Chicago. He is fluent in Spanish.

Nicolaus Gordon is studying law at Capital University Law School, where he expects to receive his J.D. in 2015. He has already earned a B.S. in biology from The Ohio State University. Nicolaus has served as a summer legal extern with Exel US and was a Research Assistant for Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University. In his free time, Nicolaus is the Youth Baseball Coordinator for the Buckeye Elite Showcase Tournament.

Michael Katz is a law student at Northwestern University School of Law and anticipates graduating in 2015. While in law school, Michael served as Summer Research Associate for the Center for Criminal Defense at the Bluhm Legal Clinic at Northwestern. He is a 2012 graduate of Miami University, magna cum laude, earning a psychology degree and the Dean’s Scholar Award.

Meagan Leach is working towards her law degree from University of Cincinnati College of Law and plans to graduate in 2015. Meagan earned her undergraduate degree in psychology, summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton. While in law school, Meagan served as a Legal Intern for the Hamilton County Probate Court under Judge James Cissell.

Dominic Saintfort is a law student at Vanderbilt University and expects to graduate in 2015. A Chancellor Law Scholar at Vanderbilt, Dominic has been a member of the Florida Young Lawyers Bar Association, the Black Law Student Association, Vanderbilt Legal Aid Society and the National Bar Association. Dominic graduated in 2010 with three B.A. from The Ohio State University: political science, philosophy and classical studies, magna cum laude.

Tal Schapira attends The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law where he anticipates receiving his law degree in 2016. While in law school, he has been a semi-finalist in in the Ohio State Business Plan competition and is a member of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) team. He earned a B.A., magna cum laude, political science and dance from George Washington University. Tal has diverse work experience including work as a legal secretary, public policy intern, dance assistant for the Rockettes and project manager for the Florida Health Law Center.

Vanessa Bernstein Tussey expects to earn her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2016. Vanessa is a 2009 graduate of the University of Central Florida with two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science and a minor in women’s studies. Her previous work experience includes founding a nonprofit organization to support women’s health initiatives, teaching for Teach for America Corps and the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio and interning in U.S. Senator Bill Nelson’s office.
