Overview

Jayla L. Sims joins the firm’s litigation team with a strong foundation in legal research, writing, and case analysis. Her background includes work in judicial chambers, corporate legal departments, and nonprofit leadership, giving her a well-rounded understanding of both legal processes and client service.

While earning her law degree from Southern University Law Center, Jayla clerked in the 19th Judicial District Court, where she supported daily courtroom operations, helped manage active dockets, and drafted legal memoranda to support rulings. That experience sharpened her legal writing skills and deepened her understanding of courtroom strategy and judicial decision-making. She also completed a legal internship at a global pharmaceutical company, where she worked alongside senior counsel to assess regulatory risk, navigate complex transactions, and evaluate negotiation strategies. Her work gives her insight into how legal issues unfold in both the courtroom and the boardroom.

Before law school, Jayla led a workforce development program for the Boys & Girls Clubs, managing a significant grant and connecting students with career opportunities tailored to their goals. This hands-on leadership experience continues to inform her practical, people-first approach to litigation.
